With a Hair Colour range created entirely around the ethos of freedom — the freedom to create, the freedom of time, the freedom to choose your own products – it may come as no surprise that we’re as prone to mixing Colours as an artist crafting a masterpiece. Give us a palette of pigments and we'll serve up a shade fit for a queen.
We've been mixing Colours for a while now, in fact, we're addicts for it! There's too much inspiration and Colour at our disposal, it would be rude not to. You'll even find our favourites immortalised in our Colour Cocktails range — where the pop-star pigments who really left an impression made it to the big league.
If mixing Hair Colours sounds like you need a college education, think again. We've enlisted the help of our Colour mixologist, responsible for most of these beauties, and her crib sheet on how to get started with Colour Cocktails.
What is a Colour Cocktail?
Colour Cocktails are custom shades, created by mixing 2 Hair Colours that blend into a new Hair Colour shade.
Why do you love a Colour Cocktail?
I love the freedom Colour Cocktails give you. Regardless of your Colour type — Blonde, Brunette, Red — Colour Cocktails are infinitely versatile and help you visualise the shade, rather than just seeing mixing ratios. I find Colour Cocktails allow our home users to be more creative without going rogue and work as a great place to start exploring the capabilities of our home Hair Colour range.
What do you want people to know about the Colour Cocktails?
Their magnificence. Colour Cocktails help us get absolutely everything out of Hair Colour. Do you suffer from warmth but want a Natural Colour? Mixing two Colours will solve that. Want intensity, without the whole nine yards? Blend two Colours. Want that in-between shade? Blend them. Your possibilities are limitless. Here are the top 3 Colour Cocktails that get the most use within the My Hairdresser team.
My Hairdresser Butter Blonde
Blondes are so much more complex than people give them credit for and although we have more than 10+ in our range, we just didn’t have one quite like this. The Butter Blonde was french inspired. I love the chic, creaminess of Beige muting the Blonde with a subtle coolness courtesy of its 50/50 ratio.

My Hairdresser Boss Blonde
The Boss Blonde is inspired by the boss lady herself. As a multi-tasker businesswoman, with limited time, she needed a Hair Colour that covered her notoriously difficult greys while promoting her youthful glow with a warming sparkle. It’s the depth that makes this Colour and how it is perfectly balancing a flash of Warmth regenerating Hair with a subtle, radiant shimmered glow.

My Hairdresser Ebony Brown
I created the Ebony Brown for my younger, Colour obsessed self. My particular penchant has always been Black but I wanted a hue that was more deep Brunette than Black to soften the severity. I love Hair Colours like midnight and this hue is like the crispest, star-filled sky. It will forever have my heart.

Inspiration for the Colour Cocktails comes from everywhere, even our own customers, who contact me for help with their Hair Colour. These are my favourite customer-inspired Colour Cocktails.
Strawberry Blonde
Copper is a sensation in its own right and its legions of devoted fans made it obvious to me that they wanted a Copper hue with more versatility, and so the Strawberry Blonde was born. This highly photogenic hue is buzzing in delicate Golden Copper warmth, flushing Hair with a wash of vibrancy complimentary to more skin tones.

Dark Ash Blonde
Off the back of the hugely popular 7.1 Ash Blonde, I wanted a cool shade for our Brunette lovers. I love the DAB’s depth, its Dark Blonde blend is perfection, spiked with rich Ash pigments that soothe warmth, swapping it for soft smokey reflects.

Salted Caramel Blonde
I never know if I should describe the Salted Caramel Blonde as a subtle Chocolate or buzzed Blonde, but if you’re attracted to gleaming Golds, swoop into this shade. Decadent and luxuriously warmed with brightening bronzed pigments, it’s one of my favourite revitalising shades.
