I Need Help Toning My Hair At Home

Say goodbye to Brassiness! Discover how to Tone your Hair to perfection at home.

Toning is the at-home Colour job we can all wrap our heads around. Chances are, you’ve already dabbled in purple shampoo. But let’s take it up a notch. Now, you can achieve that fresh salon Tone without leaving your house. Whether you’re maintaining your Colour between salon visits or perfecting your at-home Hair Colour, Toner is a must-have for anyone who Colours their Hair.

We’ve made Toning at home super simple, so you can achieve long-lasting, glossy, vibrant Colour on your own schedule.

Why Do We Need a Toner?

Over time, your Hair Colour naturally oxidises thanks to washing, styling, and exposure to the elements. This can cause your Colour to fade, turn Brassy, or go Warmer than you’d like—whether you’re a Blonde, Brunette, or something in between. (Except if you Colour your Hair with Golden, Copper, Red or Plum Shades.)

What Is A Toner And What Does It Do?

Our Toners are a Cool reflected Hair Colour mixed with our No Lift Developer, which activates the pigment without lightening your Hair. The Cool-Toned pigments—like Ash, Silver, or Beige—gloss over your Hair, leaving it soft and shiny while counteracting Warmth.

What Are The Benefits Of Toning?

A Toner helps maintain highlights, correct fading, and add shimmering pigment to your Colour. Instead of letting your Hair turn bleach-yellow or Brassy, toning leaves it balanced, fresh, and polished. It’s also the ultimate finishing touch, keeping your Colour looking salon-fresh for weeks.

How to Mix and Apply Your Toner

Start with Dry Hair: Ideally, Hair that hasn’t been washed for a day or two.
Section Your Hair: Divide into four quadrants for easy application.
Mix the Product: Pour the No Lift Developer into the Applicator Bottle, then add the Cool Colour. Secure the lid. Shake until smooth.
Apply the Toner: Focus on the Brassy or Warm areas first, then cover all Hair that needs toning.
Let It Develop: Timing varies—check every 5–10 minutes until you achieve the desired Tone. Development can take 5–20 minutes (up to 30 for stubborn Warmth).
Rinse and Condition: Rinse with Warm water, then shampoo and condition as usual.

Pro Tip: The Toner may look Cooler while it’s on your Hair than it will after rinsing. Wipe a small section with a tissue to preview the final result.

How Long Will It Last?

Typically, your fresh Tone lasts 4–6 weeks, depending on factors like:
Sun exposure
Saltwater or chlorine pools
Frequent washing
Heat styling
