Blonde's are a strange and magical Colour. Each Shade has their own talents and characteristics to produce a distinct Tone, exclusive to each individual Colour. You can have your pick from Ash, Beige, Silver or Natural Colours, from Dark to very Light, each Blonde is so different. This post, however, is focused on one particularly Light and Ash Colour, 901 Extra Light Ash Blonde.
901 is a classic Hair Colour, a classic Blonde. Think Marilyn Monroe. Think sultry and uber feminine. Her Extra Light Blonde base means she is soft, mixed with subtle Ash reflects, that creates a traditional Blonde Hair Colour.
When I want to be a Very Light Blonde, I always opt for the High Lift Range over using Hair Lightener. Hair Lightener is a great Product, but has the ability to make my Hair feel a little dry, and can leave me with a very “bleached” Blonde Colour. Using a High Lift, keeps that bottle Blonde at bay and instead gives you the specific Tones and Reflect, in this case Ash, for your Colour to create a designer Blonde that is softer on the palette.
I cannot express enough, the importance for all Blonde’s to Tone. We often refer to 9.1 Extra Light Ash Blonde as our go-to Toner, it isn’t however, the only Toner in our family. 901 mixed with a No Lift Developer is a perfect Toner, because the strong Ash Tones will cool down any warmth that occurs in Blondes. Choose 901 when Toning for a cool, Ash result.
